If you’re looking for a versatile cleaning agent that’s easily available, you won’t find anything more effective than baking soda! It’s not only efficient but can also be used on a variety of surfaces in your home.
Here’s how you can use baking soda or a combination of it with other ingredients for a clean and sparkling bathroom.
1) Toilet Bowls
Baking soda can easily clean stains from toilet bowls. Before you begin the cleaning process, make sure you wear rubber gloves. Liberally sprinkle 2 cups of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 1 hour. Then, spray 1 cup of vinegar and thoroughly scrub with a toilet brush, then flush. This combination cleans and deodorises the toilet effortlessly.
2) Shower Stalls, Mirrors and Tiles
Mix 1 cup each of baking soda and water to make a paste. Dampen the surface of the mirror or shower stall with water. Use a sponge or a soft nylon brush to gently rub the paste on the entire surface and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then, rinse the area thoroughly with water. This will get rid of the soap scum, greasiness and other stains. You can also use this paste to clean bathtubs and tiles. Don’t forget to scrub the grout between tiles thoroughly with a sponge or an old toothbrush and rinse thoroughly with water.
3) Clogged Drains
Clear the drain by liberally sprinkling 1 cup each of baking soda and salt in the drain. After 20 minutes, pour ½ a bucket of lukewarm water. In case the drain is heavily clogged, you can pour a mixture of baking soda and vinegar - 1 cup each, and ½ a cup of lemon juice, to clear the drain.
There you go! This one ingredient can clean all your bathroom surfaces. So, the next time you go grocery shopping, don’t forget to add baking soda to your cart!
