Stone tiles are a favourite in contemporary home design solutions. Their use can uplift the aesthetics of any room, including your bathroom. However, like everything else, they too need maintenance to prevent them from looking stained and lacklustre. With these expert tips, you can keep your bathroom stone tiles looking bright and shiny for longer.
1) Clean the Grout
Dust and grime settled in the grout of stone tiles can make them look dirty. To clean the grout, add 1 tbsp. of baking soda in a bowl. Now, add 3-4 tsp. of water and make a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the grout and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Scrub the paste with an old toothbrush and wipe your tiles with a cotton cloth soaked in water. Lastly, dry the tiles with a clean cloth.
2) Get Rid of Hard Water Stains
Hard water can stain your stone tiles. You can get rid of these stains by cleaning the tiles once a week. Here’s what you should do: Mix 3 tbsp. of mild detergent in a bucket of water. Soak a nylon scrubber in this solution for 10 minutes. Now, take it out and scrub the tiles in a circular motion. This should remove the stains. Lastly, wipe the area with a clean cotton cloth soaked in water and dry the tiles with a towel.
3) Use Dishwashing Gel
To restore the shine of stone tiles, take a bucket of lukewarm water and add 3 tbsp. of dishwashing gel to it. Mix well. Soak a cleaning sponge in this solution and scrub your tiles with it. Clean this soapy mixture with a cotton cloth soaked in water. Finally, wipe the tiles dry with a clean cloth.
4) Polish Your Tiles
To keep your stone tiles shiny and bright, treat them regularly with stone polishing powder. Just sprinkle the powder directly on the surface of the tiles and wipe it off with a wet cleaning cloth. The stains will disappear in minutes!
