Here’s how you can brighten the colours of your sweater while washing

‘Tis the season for sweaters. Winter is the time for warm and fuzzy sweaters, jackets and hoodies. They are some of your most prized wardrobe essentials. You don’t want their colour to fade away along with their charm.

Woollens come with very specific wash care instructions. They might lose their colour with every wash. Try these tips to avoid colour bleeding from your sweaters.

1. Gentle hand wash
Woollen garments should be hand washed in cold water using very (very) less detergent. Always flat dry your woollens so that they don’t lose their shape.

2. Fleece
Wash fleece jackets with regular detergent but skip the fabric softener.

3. Steam it
Place your sweaters in the bathroom while you take a hot a shower. The steam from the shower will steam the jacket, killing bacteria and removing any odour.

4. Use a mesh bag
Keep your wools in a mesh bag and put it for a washing cycle. It will help hold the threads and also prevent it from wearing out due to friction.

Top Tip

Never neglect the wash care instructions on any garment.
