How to Keep the Insides of Your Woollen Hoodie Soft

The cosy feeling of wearing a woollen hoodie on a cold winter day is simply matchless. But you need to know how to protect your wool clothes to maintain their softness. Since hoodies are generally worn over a t-shirt, you don’t need to wash them as often as you wash your regular clothes. Here’s how to wash woollen clothes and hoodies to keep them soft.

Step 1: Fill a Bucket or Sink

Check the care label before washing. We recommend you hand-wash your sweater or woollen hoodie. Fill a bucket or your sink with cold water. Avoid using hot water when washing wool.

Has your lifestyle during the Covid-19 lockdown affected the type of stains you get on your clothes?

Step 2: Add a Mild Detergent

The best washing liquid for wool is a mild detergent. It’s good if you can get one specifically for wool, or else you could use a regular mild detergent. Add 1 tsp. of this mixture to the water.

Step 3: Swirl by Hand

Gently swirl your hoodie around in the soapy water, then let it soak for 7-10 minutes. We recommend you wear rubber gloves while doing this. This will also protect your woollens from damage by finger rings or other accessories you may be wearing.

Step 4: Rinse

Remove your woollen hoodie from the water. Empty the sink or bucket and fill it with clean water. Dip your hoodie in the clean water and rinse. You can also rinse under the tap until the detergent gets washed away.

Step 5: Blot Excess Water

Do not wring, but gently squeeze out the water. Place your hoodie on dry towels and roll to allow the towels to soak up water. Lay it on a flat surface to complete the drying process.

Follow these steps to keep your hoodie soft and comfortable!
