It is important to diligently follow sanitising rituals even when things begin to look normal. Stepping outside the house may be unavoidable, but you cannot risk contaminating your indoor living spaces. So, here’s how you can maintain the right balance while getting your routine back on track. 

Follow proper hand washing hygiene by frequently washing your hands with soap or sanitiser. As a rule, it is the first thing you should do when you return home. Of course, even when you are out, you must sanitise or wash your hands as frequently as you can. It is crucial to sanitise your hands after you take the public transport or a private vehicle and after you finish each household chore. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds.

1) Divide Your Chores Between Members at Home

You cannot do everything by yourself, especially now that your outdoor activities have restarted. Divide the chores in the house in advance between all the family members. Let one person do the dishes, another sweep the floor while a third fold the laundry. You can get your children involved too and teach them basic hygiene skills. 

If someone is unwell at home, then designate only one person to handle cleaning and disinfection chores related to that family member. This includes cleaning their laundry, disinfecting their room, doing their dishes. This way, you are containing the spread of infections to other members, while also managing house work.

2) Deep Clean on Weekends 

Keep heavy, deep cleaning work like cleaning and disinfecting the insides of kitchen drawers, fridge shelves, entire rooms like the bathroom, bedroom, etc. for the weekends. It may be exhausting to do these on a workday. 

3) Disinfect High Touch Surfaces Frequently

Simply cleaning is not enough. Surfaces such as switches, door and window handles, phones, tables, keys, remote controls, flush handles, taps, etc are touched frequently by everyone at home. You must ensure these high touch surfaces are adequately and frequently cleaned and disinfected. Use a suitable disinfectant spray such as Domex Multi-Purpose Disinfectant Spray, which kills germs. 4) Group Similar Tasks

But post coronavirus, every trip outside requires sanitising and disinfection after coming home. Repeating this routine multiple times a week is a waste of time. It is better to plan your total weekly needs and complete all shopping in a single trip. This way, your post-shopping cleaning comes down to once a week. 

You could look at similar grouping for laundry and cooking related tasks as well.

5) Plan and Schedule Delivery of Online Orders

To avoid going to crowded places or visiting the market, if you opt for online delivery, choose the no-contact delivery system if available. Also, whenever possible, schedule deliveries for a single day, instead of receiving staggered deliveries over the week. This way you will not waste time sanitising each package as and when it is delivered. You may sanitise them in one sitting using disinfectant wipes or soap and water, basis the packaging material. 

Cleaning and disinfecting your home and office space are now more important than ever. It is good to remember that prevention is better than cure.
