Best Way to Clean Your Child’s Building Blocks Set

Building blocks set are a great tool to develop your child’s cognitive skills along with soft social skills like sharing and participating in group projects.

You should always make your children wash their hands thoroughly before they start playing with their toys. However, that’s not enough! Toddlers tend to put the blocks in their mouth, and that’s why you must disinfect the blocks regularly.

Follow the steps given here to clean the blocks thoroughly.

Step 1: Gather the Pieces

You need to disinfect every block in the set. So, start by collecting all the pieces scattered around the house in a bag.

Step 2: Prepare a Cleaning Solution

Take a bucket of lukewarm water. Please ensure that the water is not hot as it can damage your child’s building block set. Add 2 tsp. of dishwashing liquid or mild detergent to it and mix well. Avoid a harsh cleanser to prevent any residue that can be harmful to your child.

If you do not want to use a chemical detergent, make your own cleaning solution. Mix 1 cup of vinegar in a bucket of lukewarm water. It is non-toxic and chemical-free.

Step 3: Soak the Blocks

Soak the blocks in the cleaning solution for 15 minutes. Take a soft sponge and scrub each individual piece. For cleaning dirt particles stuck in the crevices on top, you can use an old toothbrush.

Step 4: Rinse Thoroughly

Now, soak the blocks in plain water for 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Ensure there is no soap residue on the blocks.

Step 5: Air-Dry

Never use a dryer on your blocks. Let them air-dry in a shaded place, away from direct sunlight.

Now that you have cleaned and sanitised your child’s building blocks, it’s playtime again.
