There are many ways in which your baby can stain those cute little onesies. Choose your cleaning method depending on the type of stain. Here are some useful cleaning tips to make your task simpler.
1) Removing Spit-Up Stains
Dampen your baby’s garment with cold water and scrub off the spit-up. Then, apply a baby detergent on the affected stained area. Next, scrub the area gently with an old toothbrush. Wash the garment in warm water and wring gently. It is good to use a fabric conditioner after washing, to keep your baby’s clothes soft and fresh. You can use a fabric conditioner such as Comfort Pure. It is specially formulated for sensitive skin. It keeps the fibres intact, thus making the fabric soft and smooth. It also adds a mild fragrance to the fabric. Finally, flat-dry the garment away from direct sunlight.
2) Removing Baby Food
Dampen the stain with cold water. Make a stain removing solution by mixing equal parts of water and vinegar. Soak the stained area of your baby’s garment in this solution for 15 minutes. This should lift the stain from the fabric. Toss the clothing item into your washing machine and wash like you normally would.
3) Removing Baby Oil, Cream and Petroleum Jelly
Scrape the excess oil or cream from your baby’s garment as soon as you spot the spill. Sprinkle baby powder on the stain. The powder will absorb the oily residue. Then, scrape off the powder and wash the garment.
4) Removing Formula Milk or Breast Milk
Soak the stained spot of the garment in warm water and treat it with detergent. This should remove the stain. Wash the clothing to get rid of any odour.
5) Removing Diaper Leaks
Soak the garment in a detergent and warm water solution for at least 15 minutes. Wash the garment in hot water to kill germs. Finally, dry in sunlight to bleach the clothing naturally.
