How to Keep Your Child’s Jersey from Losing Its Colour

While a jersey is meant to be worn on a sports field, it also holds sentimental value for every sports enthusiast. It gives a sense of affiliation towards a particular sport or team. Jerseys undergo significant wear and tear during play, and need proper care while washing. So, if your children are active players, their jerseys will begin to lose colour over time. Here is an effective method to ensure your children’s jerseys don’t lose shine.

Ingredients to Keep Handy:

a) Cold water

b) Detergent

c) Baking soda

d) Scrubbing brush

  1. Step 1: Use Cold Water

Take a bucket and fill ¾ of it with cold water. Hot water may cause fading, shrinking, and damage to the team logo, number or name on the jersey.

  2. Step 2: Add Baking Soda and Detergent

Add ½ a tbsp. of baking soda and 1 cap of detergent to the water. Mix well until the two components dissolve. If you prefer to hand wash your clothes, you can use a detergent powder such as Surf Excel Easy Wash. It is easily available in the market.

  3. Step 3: Soak the Jersey

Put your child’s jersey in this solution and swirl it. Let it soak in the bucket for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Step 4: Scrub the Jersey

Take a clothes-brush and scrub the jersey in the bucket itself. Ensure that you scrub the jersey gently to avoid damaging it.

  5. Step 5: Rinse the Jersey

Take the jersey out of the water and rinse under a tap. See to it that you get rid of all the cleaning solution you have used to wash the jersey.

  6. Step 6: Air-Dry

Post rinsing, squeeze out the excess water from your child’s jersey and hang it out to air-dry naturally.

There you go! Follow this simple guide to ensure your child’s jersey is clean, the colour intact and is fresh for their next big game.
