Are rats chewing up your Washing Machine wires? Here's how you can easily protect your Washing Machine from rats!

Rats can find their way inside your washing machine and bite down the insulation and ruin your machine’s insides within seconds.

Rats are attracted to hot and humid environs. They could die near/inside the machine, resulting in stench, electrical shots, and other problems. Keep these tips handy to keep rats away from your washing machine wires.

1) Look for the gnawing sound

Rats mainly come from windows and very rarely through open doors. Keep an eye out for rodents and other scurrying pests.

2) Block the access points

Rats can find their way in even from a ½ inch hole. Spot the access points and spray a coating of foam latex or plug the holes with steel wool.

3) Keep the area near the washing machine clean and tidy

Food particles lying around the washing machine is like giving an open invitation to all the rats. Make sure you sweep away all the food particles and keep the area clean.

4) Hide wires, cords, and cables

Use cord clips to attach them to walls. You can also hide them with a concealed surge protector.

5) Use a home remedy

Peppermint oil is a great option. Soak a few cotton balls in peppermint oil and very strategically place them near appliances where you often spot the rats. Replace the balls when the smell fades away.

Top Tip

Fill the holes with white cement. It is the best option to go for as it will last for a long duration.
