Are your fans blades filled with sticky black dirt? Here are some simple tips to clean it up!

Over time, the blades of the fan begin to get dusty. Unless you want dust and dirt flying around when you switch on your fan, you need to start dusting the blades regularly.

1) Using a vacuum cleaner

Check for an extendable vacuum panel to reach the ceiling and vacuum the fan conveniently, without using a stool. Make sure you vacuum twice for efficient cleaning.

2) Using a long-handled duster

Take a simple plastic bag and grip it around the head of the duster, rub it back and forth, then fluff the dusting fronds to create static electricity. This attracts the dust as you’ve created a magnetic charge. Now dust the blades slowly to clear dust effectively.

3) Manual cleaning

Get on to the stool and reach the fan. Take a clean microfibre cloth to dust the blades. Dip a rag in a solution of 2 tablespoons of Vim dishwash gel and a cup of water. Use this rag to clean blades thoroughly. Get down, switch on the fan and let it dry.

Top Tip

For best results, use a dusting attachment that is wide and flat, not circular.
