In the home

Your home decor artifacts are looking dull and worn out? Here are simple hacks to get your brass showpieces shining again.

Artifacts are excellent in adding beauty and charm to your household. But their maintenance requires some effort from your end.

Brass products have been sought-after for home decor. But they tend to lose their brassy bling and you might need to clean them. We are putting out an easy, safe and effective method for cleaning and keeping your brass items gleam like new.

  • Toothpaste
Take a bit of the toothpaste onto a small piece of soft cloth. Rub the toothpaste on the entire surface of the item. When done, clean and dry with a piece of paper towel or soft cloth.
  • Ketchup
It works as a natural cleaner as the mild acidity in tomatoes removes tarnish and dirt from brass. Rub ketchup onto the brass with a soft cloth, rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.
  • Vinegar + flour
Make a paste of vinegar, flour and water, 2 tablespoons each. Apply the thick mixture to the affected area and wait for it to completely dry. Vinegar will dissolve the dense dirt and flour will absorb it. Using a soft cloth, remove the dried layer. Wash with soap and dry immediately.
  • Lemon
Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle it with some salt. Rub the salted lemon over the surface of the brass. Once you’ve covered the surface with the lemon juice and salt mixture, wipe with a soft cloth and buff till the shine is back.

These will help you clean the brass artifacts and restore its lost shine.
