Kitchen cleaning

Does your kitchen have a leaky pipe? Check out this simple method to save water and repair the leakage!

One of the most common and irritating problems in the kitchen is a leaking sink pipe.

Leakage is generally caused due to the beaten-up plastic seals and rubber washer between the sink and the strainer. Worry not, we have got the right procedure to fix this issue.

Step 1:

Turn the water supply off before fixing the leak.

Step 2:

Place a bucket under the strainer and unscrew the nuts that hold the waste pipe. Remove the pipe and empty the water into the bucket.

Step 3:

Disconnect the overflow pipe from the side of the strainer. Unscrew the drainer and remove the lower half of the strainer unit.

Step 4:

Remove the drainer lid, clean the sink and the hole using a paper towel.

Step 5:

Change the rubber washers. Place the top part of the strainer with the thinner rubber on the top of the sink and then place the thicker part underneath the bottom half of the strainer.

Step 6:

Tighten the screws and reconnect the overflow pipe and the trap. Switch on the water supply to check the flow.

That’s it, your sink should now be fixed and ready to use!

Top Tip

Use a wrench to unscrew the nuts if they are too tight.
