Stainless-steel utensils hold pride of place in most Indian homes. However, with regular use, the steel tends to lose its shine and collects grime if not washed properly. Thus, making time to care for your stainless steel utensils is of utmost importance.
Here’s how you can properly clean and care for your stainless steel utensils.
For Regular Washing
After your regular washing process, dip a clean sponge in a cup of hot water and wipe your stainless steel utensils. This will help maintain their shine.
For Light Stains
To clean light stains, mix 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid in a cup of hot water and scrub your utensils using a sponge.
You can use these methods for everything from stainless-steel cutlery to cooking surfaces.
For Fingerprints and Watermarks
If fingerprints and watermarks are your major concerns, wash with a mild soap and wipe clean with a microfibre cloth. If you’re worried about dried-on food stains, pour a little vinegar over the stain and rub with a microfiber cloth. Rinse and wipe down with a dry cloth or paper towel.
For Tougher Stains
Use baking soda. Simply mix a thick paste using 1 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tbsp. of water. Apply the paste directly on to the affected area of your stainless steel utensil and let it sit for about half an hour. Then, wipe it using a damp cloth. Rinse and dry.
Regular cleaning and maintenance will keep your stainless steel utensils looking their best.
