To maintain superior hygiene in your kitchen, you must pay special attention to your cooking appliances. A microwave is one of the most useful cooking appliances in a modern home. However, an unclean microwave can become a source of cross-contamination. Spills and splatters should be cleaned as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to remove burnt food particles.
Here are some easy and effective cleaning tips:
1) Use Vinegar
Add 1 tsp. of vinegar to a bowl of water. Microwave this bowl for 3-5 minutes. The vapours will loosen the stains in the microwave. Unplug the microwave and wipe it clean using a kitchen towel. Vinegar has both disinfecting and deodorising properties.
2) Use Lemon
Cut a lemon in half. Place it on a microwave plate and let it microwave for 1 minute. The vapours from the lemon will loosen the stain and kill the unpleasant odour. Wipe the inside of your microwave with paper towels.
How do you know that the surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom have been disinfected?
3) Use Baking Soda
Mix baking soda and water in a small bowl to form a paste. Apply this paste on the stained areas of your microwave and wait for a few minutes. Wipe off the stain with a cleaning cloth. You can also use this paste to clean the microwave plate and turntable.
4) Using Dishwashing Liquid
If there are spills on the glass turntable of your microwave, you can wash it with an effective dishwashing liquid. You can use Vim Dishwash Gel for this. Use a sponge to scrub off the stains. If the stains are stubborn, soak the plate in water for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with plain water. Dry it with a clean towel and place it back in the microwave.
If you are using a commercial cleaner on your microwave, always spray it on a cleaning cloth and not directly inside your microwave. And ensure that the microwave is not hot while you’re cleaning it.
That’s it, your microwave is now ready for use!
