A good-looking, comfortable sofa can make your living room more inviting for your guests. You may choose to entertain them with good food and wine, but don’t let the fear of stains on your sofa prevent you from being the perfect host. Red wine stains on your white sofa can be a real bummer, but there are ways to remove them effectively.
Follow the step-by-step procedure given here to remove the stain.
Step 1: Vacuum-Clean Your Sofa
Get rid of loose dirt and dust from your sofa using an efficient vacuum cleaner.
Step 2: Blot the Stain
You can skip Step 1 if your sofa is dust-free and has been vacuumed recently. Blot the stain as soon as you can. Cover the stained area with a cotton cloth or paper towel and press gently. Do not rub the towel as it will spread the stain.
Step 3: Treat with Baking Soda
Combine baking soda and water in a bowl to form a thick paste. Apply this paste on the stained area of your sofa and let it rest for 10 minutes. Later, gently dab the area to remove the paste. Ensure that you do not scrub vigorously.
Step 4: Make a Cleansing Solution
Mix ½ a cup of laundry detergent with ¼th of cup of water and whip this solution using an electric mixer to make a foamy solution. You can use Surf Excel Easy Wash; it is an effective liquid laundry detergent. Apply the whipped solution on the stained area of your fabric. Gently scrub using an old toothbrush, but do not apply too much pressure. Leave it for 2-3 minutes. Wash off the soapy solution with a clean, damp cloth. Use your vacuum cleaner to dry the affected area.
Remember a clean, and comfortable sofa is the key to lively conversations.
