Here Are Some Easy Ways to Make Your Bed Linens Last Longer

Bed sheets set the tone of your room. They reflect your personal taste and preferences, and can make quite an impression on your guests. So, always invest in good quality bed sheets. True, they can be expensive, but it’s worth the investment if you know how to wash them.

Keep your bed sheets looking bright and comfortable for longer. All you have to do is follow the step-by-step washing technique given here. This method is used by many laundry experts and professionals.

Step 1: Sort Your Bed Sheets

Make 3 piles of your whites, dark-coloured and light-coloured bed sheets. Do not put them together in the wash to prevent colour bleeding.

Step 2: Put Them in Your Machine

Toss your bed sheets in your machine if the care label says they can be machine-washed. Use warm water and set the machine on a gentle cycle.

Step 3: Add Detergent

We recommend using a good liquid laundry detergent like Surf Excel Matic Liquid, which is specifically formulated for washing machines, to wash your bed sheets.

Step 4: Add Lime Juice or Vinegar

Avoid using bleach on your bed sheets as it can lead to discolouration. For keeping your white bed sheets white, you can add ½ a cup of lime juice in the washing machine along with the detergent during the wash cycle.

However, for dark-coloured bed sheets, you must add ½ a cup of vinegar along with the detergent. This will keep the colour of your bed sheets intact.

Step 5: Run the Wash Cycle

Set the washing machine on a gentle cycle to wash your bed sheets. However, do not run the dryer as it can potentially damage the fabric. Don’t even put your bed sheets on a spin cycle to remove excess water. You can do it yourself. Just place your bed sheet between two dry towels and squeeze gently. Finally, hang them to dry.

And before you know it, it’s done!
