Undo the Stains, Not the Memories – Your Post Holi Stain Removal Guide

There is no tougher test than washing white clothes after Holi. In this article, we have outlined the best ways to get your white clothes bright and clean after Holi.

Coloured powders used during Holi are easy to get out of clothes when you use the right detergent. Pre-treat any tough stains with Rin and be sure to follow the directions on the label of your detergent!

1) Organise Your Holi Clothes

Before you go about treating those stains on white clothes, you need to organise and separate the Holi clothes basis their colours. It's not necessary, but it does provide a little extra insurance of getting your clothes back to their original colour.

2) Read the Label Carefully

Make sure your stained clothing does not require dry cleaning or special treatment. It's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to treating the clothing that recommends professional cleaning.

3) Pre-Treat Your Stains

Pre-treatment can be done in two ways, spot treatment or soaking. Remember, patience is the key to removing stains. You may need to repeat this process a couple of times before you wash the clothes as usual.

If you choose to spot treat, simply wet the stain, then sprinkle or rub in some Rin detergent (using either bar or powder) and allow it to soak in for 10-15 minutes. You can use a soft bristled brush to work in the paste for tougher stains, but the best way to avoid extra work is to treat the stains while they’re fresh.

4) Use the Right Detergent

We recommend you to use Rin detergent for soaking as it’s specially made for white clothes. Make sure you separate the coloured clothing out of the mix. Mix 1-cup detergent into 1-bucket water for about ½ an hour. Once you remove the clothes, dispose of the water as it will contain all the colour powder you are trying to remove.

5) Washing Procedure

Once you have finished your special post-Holi pre-treatment, you can begin with your regular process of washing, whether by hand or in the machine. Rin is a product that will keep your clothes looking clean and bright.

We hope these techniques work well for your family after the festival of Holi.

Key Steps

  • The best way to remove stains from white clothes is to pre-treat them or soak them in a bucket of soapy water for about 30 minutes.
  • Don’t use too much detergent. The recommended amount of Rin can do the job! Check the product label.
  • Wash colours separately, if red or pink was the colour of the clothes, don’t mix those clothes in yellow or blue. This process will help you keep your clothes bright and clean.
