Marker pens are a must-have item in your stationery drawer. From labelling to writing on whiteboards, markers are a handy tool to have.
However, markers can stain clothes easily and you may not be able to remove the stains simply by rubbing them off. But there’s no need to worry. Try these simple steps to get rid of those stubborn marker stains.
Step 1: Soak
It’s best to soak the stained area in warm water for at least 10 minutes before beginning the cleaning process. This will help loosen the stains.
Step 2: Use Lemon Juice
Cut a lemon in half. Squeeze the lemon directly over the marker stain.
Step 3: Add Salt
Take a handful of salt and apply it over the stained area and rub it in. Wait for 15-20 minutes.
Step 4: Dab the Stained Spots
Then, take a damp sponge and gently dab it on the stained spots. This will lift the stains easily.
Step 5: Use Vinegar if Stains Persist
If the above method doesn’t do the trick, use vinegar. Place paper towels on a flat surface and lay the stained portion of your clothing face down on them. Now, make a diluted cleaning solution by mixing 2 cups of vinegar and 2 cups of water. Dip a clean sponge in it, and start dabbing around the stained portion. Gradually get to dabbing directly over the stain. You’ll notice the stain transferring on to the paper towels. Replace the wet ones with fresh paper towels for best results.
Step 6: Wash your Garment
Once the stain is removed, wash your garment as you normally do.
Your clothes may be vulnerable to stains when using marker pens, but with a cleaning method like this handy, you have nothing to worry about!
