Here’s How to Get Rid of Those Sweat Stains From Your Cottons

The sweat stains that you find on your cotton clothes generally form due to the acidic nature of sweat. This can also affect the dyes in your clothes. So, here are a few laundry tips to help you.

This step-by-step guide will help you say goodbye to those sweat marks today!

Step 1: Air-Dry

Before we jump into action and get rid of those sweat stains, let’s begin with air-drying your clothes thoroughly. Hang your cotton garment on a hanger and leave it to dry naturally. Around 25-30 minutes should do the trick.

Step 2: Make a Paste

Take a bowl. Add 2 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp. of vinegar and mix to form a paste. Apply this paste on the sweat stains on your cotton garment. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

Step 3: Wash Your Garment

Always check the care label on your garment for washing instructions. If it suggests machine-washing, put your cotton garment in your washer, add a mild detergent and run your wash as you usually do. If you are hand-washing, take a bucket of lukewarm water and add a mild detergent to this. Soak your garment in the soapy solution for 5 minutes. With a brush, scrub the garment and the stained area to ensure the paste is removed.

Step 4: Dry Your Garment

If you have machine-washed your cotton garment, skip the machine-drying process. Instead, after the wash cycle, remove the garment and hang out to dry naturally. If you have hand-washed it, remove it from the bucket and hang out to dry.

Key Step:

Try washing your sweaty garments as soon as possible; the longer you keep them unwashed, the more time the stain has to settle in.
