Elegant and timeless, a beautiful saree can effortlessly draw attention. But even a small stain can render your pretty saree unusable. If you have accidentally dropped something on your saree, don’t worry. In this article, we have shared easy, helpful cleaning tips to remove oil, food and lipstick stains from your saree.
1) Oil Stains
To remove oil stains from your saree, evenly cover the area by sprinkling a small quantity of talcum powder or baking soda. Let it rest for 2-3 hours. This will help soak the oil. Then, take a sponge dampened in water and wipe the area clean. Repeat this step 2-3 times to remove the stain completely. Now, gently rinse your saree in cold water and let it dry naturally.
2) Food Stains
Apply white toothpaste on the front and back of the stained area, and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then, take a sponge dampened in water and wipe off the toothpaste, but be gentle while doing this. If the stain persists, make a cleaning solution by mixing 1 tsp. of mild detergent in ½ a cup of lukewarm water. Mix well and apply the solution on the stained area with a sponge. Gently rub with your fingers and wipe with a clean, damp sponge.
3) Lipstick Stains
Blot the area with a dry tissue to lift lipstick stains. Repeat this step a couple of times, using fresh tissue paper each time. This will remove most of the stain. Now, make a cleaning solution by mixing 2 tsp. of mild detergent and ½ a tsp. of white vinegar in ½ a cup of warm water and mix well. Pour this mixture on the stained area and wait 15 minutes. Then gently rinse the area under cold running water. Allow it to air-dry.
With these simple tips and tricks, you can easily remove stains from your favourite saree.
