How to Remove Lipstick Stains from Your Clothes

You may have accidentally smudged lipstick on your dress while getting ready and the task of cleaning it can seem daunting. If you’re wondering how to remove lipstick stains from clothes, you’ve come to the right place.

Follow these simple laundry tips to know how to remove lipstick stains from your favourite clothes.

1) Use Liquid Detergent

Begin by carefully scraping off any excess dried lipstick with the edge of a spoon or a blunt knife. Next, pre-wash the garment with plain water. Put liquid detergent directly on the stain and let it sit for 10-12 minutes. Then, rinse the stain in warm water but make sure you do not rub the stain, as this can cause further damage. Finally, wash your garment as you usually would in your washer.

2) Use Hairspray

You can also use hairspray to treat lipstick stains. However, we recommend using the hairspray on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first. Begin with spraying the hairspray on to the lipstick stain. Ensure you cover the entire affected area. Allow the hairspray to sit for 10-15 minutes. Then, take a clean cloth, dip it in warm water and wipe the hairspray from the stain. Finally, wash the fabric as usual.

3) Use Acetone

Acetone works well when it comes to removing lipstick stains from your clothing. Dampen a cotton ball with acetone and blot the stain. Do not rub. After you have blotted the stain, rinse the acetone with plain water and wash the garment as you normally would.

Removing lipstick stains from your clothes is a simple process. Follow these tips, and your garments will be lipstick-free.
