How to Keep Your Duvet and Bedsheets Smelling Great Always!

Your bedroom is the place you go to relax, unwind and get that much-needed sleep, so you want to make sure your sheets and duvet smell great. And the easiest way to add a fresh fragrance to your sheets and duvet is to wash them the right way. We give you a simple step-by-step process to keep your clothes and sheets smelling fresh after washing.

For Fragrant Bedsheets

Step 1: Soak Your Sheets

Take a bucket filled with warm water. Add 1 cup of vinegar along with 1 tbsp. of dishwashing powder to the water. Put your sheets in this bucket, swirl them around and let them soak for 30 minutes. The vinegar will help mask any smells.

Step 2: Perfume the Wash

Remove your sheets from the bucket in which they were soaking. Wring them to remove excess water and put them into your washing machine. To keep your sheets smelling fresh after washing, add ½ a cup of baking soda along with 4-5 drops of your favourite essential oil directly to your washer and run your normal cycle to add a fresh fragrance to your sheets. If your washing machine has a temperature setting for water, you can select ‘warm’. However, always check the care label on your sheets before choosing the temperature.

Step 3: Dry Your Sheets

The last step is to dry your sheets. Doing this in mild sunlight is ideal as it helps kill germs as well, and the fresh air will leave your sheets smelling fresh.

For Fragrant Duvets

Step 1: Wash your Duvets

Put your duvet in the washing machine and run your regular cycle.

Step 2: Make a Solution

Make a solution comprising equal parts of water, vinegar and lemon juice. Put this in a spray bottle and apply all over your duvet after it has dried. The vinegar and lemon juice kill existing odours and add a fresh fragrance to your duvet.

Step 3: Dry your Duvets

Keep your duvet on a flat surface to dry naturally.

Follow these simple steps and you’ll have clean, fresh-smelling sheets and duvets!
