How to Remove Haldi Stains from your Woollen Sweater | Cleanipedia

A cosy woollen sweater is an essential piece of clothing in your winter wardrobe. Style it the right way, and you can effortlessly make a statement. But how do you clean your white woollen sweater if you accidentally spilt food on it?

Wool is prone to staining and needs immediate attention when there is a food spill. If neglected, the stain can penetrate deep into the fibres and become difficult to remove. If you’re looking for a simple yet effective method to clean haldi stains from your woollen sweater, you are in luck!

Try this simple method to clean those haldi stains from your white woollen sweater like a pro.

Step 1: Blot with a Tissue

Before you begin the cleaning process, take a couple of tissue papers and blot as much of the stain as you can. If the stain is dry, use a spoon to scrape off the food particles. This will ease the cleaning process.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Fill half a bucket with lukewarm water and add 2 tbsp. of vinegar to it. Mix well.

Step 3: Soak

Put your woollen sweater in the bucket and let it soak for 2-3 hours. The vinegar will help loosen the stain.

Step 4: Soak in Liquid Detergent

Now make another cleaning solution by mixing 1 tbsp. of liquid detergent in ½ a bucket of water. Drop your woollen sweater in this solution and wait 10 minutes. Then, pour 4-5 drops of dishwashing liquid on the stain and gently rub with your fingers. This will lift the stain.

Step 5: Wash

Gently hand-wash the garment in plain water.

Step 6: Dry

Lay a clean towel on a flat surface, place your washed woollen sweater on it and roll. Gently press to remove excess water. Then unroll the towel and bring out the garment. Lay another dry, clean towel on a flat surface and place your garment on it. Leave it to dry naturally.

Your white woollen sweater will now be clean and stain-free!
