Spilled some dal makhani at a party? Rest easy! Here's a simple method to get rid of food stains from your party clothes

In case you’ve ruined your favourite party wear by spilling gravy or wine on it, you don’t have to sit and crib. We’ve got some smart cleaning solutions to help you.

More or less, cleaning methods for different stains are similar. Time is of the essence; you should act quickly to get rid of the stains and save your clothes.

Oil and butter

Sprinkle some flour, talcum powder and corn-starch on both sides of the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes. Shake off the powder and see if the stain is still there. If yes, then gently rub some mild dish detergent on it and rinse under hot water.

Coffee & Tea

Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar in half a bowl of water. Rinse and dab the stained area in this solution. Repeat the process till the stain vanishes.

Rinse the stained garment under cold running water and blot with vinegar to clean it as much as you can. Before you launder the garment, apply some diluted detergent to the spot.

Red Wine

Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar and ½ a cup of rubbing alcohol in a bowl. Use a clean cloth or a rag to blot the stain with this solution. Continue blotting until the liquid is absorbed and stain disappears. Launder normally.

Top Tip

For white and colour-fast clothes, soak in a bleach solution for 15 minutes. Rinse and launder normally.
