We all love the chutney counter at a buffet. But is the fear of spilling chutney or another condiment on your favourite designer threads holding you back? Don’t worry. We’ve come up with a 8-step solution to help you bid goodbye to that food stain for good.

Remember to try this cleaning method on a small inconspicuous area of your clothing first to check its compatibility.

Step 1:

Place a clean paper towel on a flat surface. Placed the stained part of the garment face-up on the paper towel. Apply a few drops of liquid laundry detergent on the stain with a cotton ball and wait for 10 minutes.

Step 2:

Gently blot the stain with another clean cotton ball.

Step 3:

Hold the stained part under clean running water.

Step 4:

Take a few drops of rubbing alcohol on a clean sponge and dab any remaining portion of the stain. Remember to not rub it as the colour may spread to other areas of your outfit. Leave the solution on the stain for about 15 minutes.

Step 5:

Rinse the outfit well to get rid of the solution.

Step 6:

Take a large bowl of cold water, add 1 tbsp. of vinegar and 1 tsp. of dishwashing liquid, and soak the stained part in this solution for 30 minutes.

Step 7:

Gently rinse your clothing with cold water, then wash it in the machine on a normal load cycle.

Removing chutney stains from your favourite designer clothing has never been simpler!
