Can the germs survive on your clothes?
The short answer is yes. However, it has not been absolutely proven just how long they survive on surfaces. Research says that it can last on surfaces from 2 hours to 3 days.
The survival time depends on a number of factors including the type of surface, temperature, and relative humidity.
It’s enough to know that clothing can be a risk factor depending on the circumstances. So, for the sake of overall safety, it's a good idea to wash clothes after being outside. Maging alerto, especially if you have come into contact with an individual who is sick or have visited an area with large crowds and minimal sanitizing such as in grocery stores and retail shops.

For starters, all items should be washed with antibacterial laundry detergent. You can also use bleach, but be sure to read the clothing care labels, product description, and guidelines.
Where possible, select the warmest water setting possible for your laundry. Check your clothes tags and see if it can handle water temperatures between 60–90°C.
Lastly, be sure to dry clothes thoroughly.
Will ordinary detergents get rid of the germs?
We recommend using antibacterial laundry detergents such as Breeze Antibacterial Powder Detergent. However, if this isn’t available for you, disinfecting clothes with bleach after washing can also provide germ-protection. Just make sure to read the clothes tag as bleach might be too strong and can ruin for some fabrics.
When using bleach for disinfecting, make sure to soak for 10-15 minutes, then rinse with clean water and follow the instructions on the detergent bottle. To add extra protection, rinse with an antibacterial fabric conditioner like Surf Antibacterial Fabric Conditioner.
Aside from personal care hygiene habits such as washing your hands and wearing a mask in public, removing germs on clothes is another way to stay safe and healthy.
